Something a little new TIMED ASSESSMENT DAY!
Designer : Jasmine Willis
Assistant: Sadie Hiddleston
Face chart Designed by Jasmine Willis.
This will be the look that i will create on my model today. It may look like a few simple bits of detail but the precision you will need for this technique will be a challenge, which is just perfect for me. I am very excited to get started!
First of all i am all about complexion and getting that flawless look all over the skin! My model had very good skin indeed and took very well to my system and techniques.
Equipment:
Illamasqua satin primer
Illamasqua rich liquid foundation (mixture of tones)
Screen face concealer palette
Illamasqua MAC translucent powder
MaxFactor blusher
Brushes
Hairspray
Gold hair band
Aqua palette
Supra palette
Black liquid eyeliner
Gold glitter
Health and Safety:
check to see if my model has any allergies - NONE
Method:
1) I started creating Jasmines amazing look by removing all products from her skin and making as clean as possible. Cleanse, Moisturise and tone ritual.
2) I then applied the Illamasqua satin primer that i had to the skin to give me a base to work with as her skin was little open poured and this would work perfectly. Then i began to conceal her skin with matching up the correct colours needed for a specific area.
3) I then began to mix my Illamasqua rich liquid foundations that i had to create my models skin tone. She had a layer of fake tan on so i had to blend and make sure that i covered all areas necessary and there was no un-even patches. I really enjoyed doing this as i love working with complexion and creating a flawless look. Then moving on to the powder! I just powdered until she was matt and looked beautiful.
4) I then used my thinner brushes to be able to create the lines and detail across the forehead. I did have a little difficulty due to being so precise and having to have such a steady hand to create the perfect line but i love a challenge and believe i coped with it well. I then used the opposite end of my make up brush and dapped it into my white Aqua colour and create 5 small circles on the forehead and then created the gold line below it with another make up brush. I waited a few minutes in between as i used Aqua colour Gold as well as the supra colour (as its grease based) didn't show up as strong and wasn't as good to work with, whereas Aqua colour you can leave to dry for a few minutes and layer up and develop the colour stronger and stronger which is perfect for what i wanted to do to fit into Jasmines design. Then using the same black Aqua colour using that on the lip line and remembering pointing the tips of the lips and creating a strong line.
Moving onto the hair:
1) I began by using my water spray bottle and wetting the hair and brushing it all back into a high pony tail.
2) Using your hair band i then tied her hair up tightly to her head being careful not to hurt my model and then sprayed the hair with my hair spray to tuck in a stray bits on the hair which may be sticking out as the hair begins to dry from the water spray.
Over all i have really enjoyed being given this task. Having the opportunity to use someone else's design a re-create the look on a model is an amazing feeling when you make someone else happy with your techniques and skills on their designs. I feel like i have learnt a lot with this process, the difference in preparation, communication with the designer and the professionalism with in your work and making sure you do everything correctly to the face chart. Jasmine Willis said she was very happy with my outcome and i was to, i am very much looking forwards to maybe having this task again and furthering the experimentation and challenging myself.
